Whey Protein Isolate Is Old News – Here’s Proof That Whey Protein Hydrolysate Is The Best Protein Powder On The Market
The fact of the matter is you can’t get enough protein and amino acids delivered to your muscle tissue just from eating food. If you’re serious about fitness and gaining muscle, you absolutely NEED a protein powder supplement.
Some guys just eat a chicken breast or a steak after they’re done working out, and that’s fine, but those guys aren’t going to experience anywhere near the caliber of results the guys who are supplementing with whey protein are going to experience.
When you lift weights, you break your muscle fibers down super hard. The whole point of hitting the weight room is to maximize muscle breakdown and thereby give your muscle fibers the chance to build themselves back up larger than before.
Muscle growth is truly a two-part process. You can’t just hit the gym on the daily and expect your muscles to be huge 3 weeks later. Part one is hitting the weights to break down those muscles, and part two is drinking enough protein shakes to build them back up and make some gains.
Can I Just Take Whey Protein Concentrate?
Hell no! I mean, I guess you could technically take Whey Protein Concentrate if you wanted to, but you’re not going to gain any lean muscle mass. You might gain some mass in general, but it’s not going to be LEAN MUSCLE MASS.
That’s what it’s all about guys…lean muscle mass. You don’t just want mass, or you’ll end up looking too bulky and building up your body fat percentage too much. You want to gain strictly lean muscle, and Whey Protein Concentrate can actually prevent you from doing that, despite what you might have learned from all those bodybuilding.com articles you read.
The truth is Whey Protein Concentrate is only 80% protein, so what the hell is the remaining 20%? Hopefully something good for you, right? Unfortunately, the remaining 20% is fat, cholesterol, lactose, and other nutrients that can lead to fat gain and ultimately counteract some of the benefits of utilizing a protein powder.
Just in case it’s not clear enough at this point in the article, I HATE WHEY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE. Do NOT use Concentrate unless you don’t really care about your gains and are not concerned about gaining excess fat. Concentrate can build mass, but it can NOT build lean muscle anywhere near as effectively as the purer, cleaner protein powders on the market.
So Then, I Should Take Whey Protein Isolate, Right?
Wrong again! I know you probably read a bunch more bodybuilding.com articles (I have no idea why the hell people are so obsessed with that website) that told you to take Whey Protein Isolate, but the truth is those articles have mislead you as well, and I’m about to prove it to you.
To be clear, Whey Protein Isolate is certainly miles better than Concentrate…there’s no doubt about that. Let me throw some science at you…when whey protein undergoes a process known as Cross-Flow Micro-Filtration, the purity levels goes up from 80% to 90%, and BOOM, you have Whey Protein Isolate.
Just based off of that one fact, we already know Isolate is miles better than Concentrate. Its an 80% purity level versus a 90% purity level…that’s a no-brainer. With a 90% purity level, you’re going to get a whole bunch more protein and branched chain amino acids, which makes Isolate far superior to Concentrate.
BUT, if you thought whey protein couldn’t be improved even more, you’re dead wrong.
Introducing The Highest Quality Protein On The Market: Whey Protein Hydrolysate
The Cross-Flow Micro-Filtration process was a next-level discovery. Everybody switched from Whey Protein Concentrate to Whey Protein Isolate almost immediately after the discovery was made, and that was definitely the right move, but researchers discovered a way to make protein powder even MORE efficient in recent years.
The purest, most gains-inducing protein powder in the world is created by putting cross-flow micro-filtered whey protein through the process of Enyzmatic Hydrolysis. Protein powder is all about giving your muscles a big dose of protein more quickly and efficiently than is doable through the use of food, so the question became, how do we increase the speed of the nutrient delivery system?
Enzymatic Hydrolysis breaks the protein particles down into extraordinarily tiny pieces, which makes it a thousand times easier for your body to digest. Even more importantly, the hydrolysis process makes the protein a thousand times easier for your muscle tissue to absorb.
If the whole point of protein powder is to deliver protein and amino acids to your muscle tissue in order to induce growth, then it stands to reason that you want this process to be accomplished as quickly as possible if you want to gain muscle FAST, right?
The bottom line is that Whey Protein Hydrolysate contains the highest essential amino acid count, the highest BCAA count, and it’s absorbed the fastest into your muscle tissue. If you take all of those facts into consideration, you should be able to conclude that Whey Protein Hydrolysate is the best protein powder on the market.
Okay, So Where Can I Find This Stuff?
Well, herein lies the problem. I guarantee if you go grab whatever protein powder you have in your house right now and look at the nutrition label, you will see concentrate on the label. If you don’t see concentrate, you’ll definitely see isolate. Either way, there’s a 99% chance you WON’T see Hydrolysate.
This is because companies in the sports nutrition industry are like companies in any industry…they’re cheap, they don’t care about you, and the only thing they’re concerned with is how much money they can make off of you.
However, there are a few super respectable companies in the industry that actually care about creating high quality products and delivering results to their customers, and these are the companies whose products I recommend using.
I can only think of two or three products off the top of my head that contain any Whey Protein Hydrolysate at all, and none of those products even contain pure Hydrolysate…they all use a partial Hydrolysate formula, which means they’ve gone and ruined the quality of the Hydrolysate by mixing it with some inferior protein source like Concentrate or Isolate.
Does 100% Pure Whey Protein Hydrolysate Even Exist?
The truth is, up until early 2018, it actually did NOT exist. Supplement companies are so cheap, that even though they knew about the technology and knew they could improve their protein powders, they chose not to in order to save a few bucks.
Putting whey protein through the Cross-Flow Micro-Filtration process is expensive, and putting it through the process of Enzymatic Hydrolysis is even more expensive, so 99% of companies are unwilling to shell out the cash to create a truly top notch product.
It’s a shame that the supplement companies don’t care about the quality of their products, but like I said, there are a few select companies that actually do care.
The only company I know of that has created a 100% pure Whey Protein Hydrolysate powder is called TEK Naturals (teknaturals.com). Their protein powder is called Hydro Whey 100, and ever since I found out about it, it’s the only protein powder on the market I’m willing to use. Big thanks to the guys over at TEK for actually caring about their customers.
